Progress Toward Your Next Level
USA Gymnastics (USAG) is the governing body for gymnastics in the United States. Its Developmental Program is a 10-level pathway designed to help gymnasts progress toward elite-level or collegiate competition.
At Gymnastics East, our Pre-Team prepares young gymnasts for competitive gymnastics. Coaches hand-select gymnasts who show a passion for the sport along with the physical and mental aptitude to grow in a structured team environment.
The program builds technique, conditioning, safety, and confidence over time. Joining a team is exciting, but it also requires commitment and responsibility from both the gymnast and her family.
Ask About The TeamCompulsory Levels
The first five levels build the foundation for competitive gymnastics. Levels 2–5 include mandatory competitions, competitive fees, team apparel, and family volunteer time.
- Level 1: Hand-picked from our Tiny Tot and class programs, Level 1 gymnasts practice at our Issaquah Team Gym. They do not attend formal competitions, but participate in Gymnastics East Mini Nationals two to three times each year.
- Level 2: Gymnasts must be at least 5 years old and attend mandatory meets and the state competition. They practice at our Issaquah Team Gym and move up from Level 1 when they meet the requirements.
- Level 3: The first official compulsory competition level, with a state competition and a minimum age of 6. Level 2 gymnasts move up when they meet the requirements, and the team practices at our Issaquah Team Gym.
- Level 4: Gymnasts must have passed the Level 3 requirements and be at least 7 years old. The team trains at our Bellevue Gym.
- Level 5: The highest compulsory level. Gymnasts must have passed the Level 4 requirements and be at least 7 years old. The team trains at our Bellevue Gym.

Optional Levels
Levels 6–10 introduce optional routines and increasingly challenging skills. These teams train at our Bellevue Gym and include mandatory competitions, competitive fees, team apparel, and family volunteer time.
- Levels 6–7: Gymnasts must be at least 7 years old and have passed the Level 5 requirements. Level 7 adds more specific and challenging skill requirements.
- Level 8: Gymnasts must be at least 8 years old and have passed the Level 7 requirements. State Championship competitors may qualify for Regional Championships.
