About Us

Gymnastics East has been training gymnasts and offering fun fitness classes since 1979. It is owned and operated by Kim Thomson. Kim was a member of our early team then returned to coach. She bought the gym in Y2000. She continues to have joy for the sport and believes that participation in gymnastics from an early age sets the base to succeed in any sport.

Our competitive team continues to be one of the top ranked teams in our State and Region with a focus on achieving college scholarships for our graduating seniors.

Competitive Gymnastics

Our Competitive team continually wins state, regional and national awards. We are also proud to have helped numerous gymnasts sign collegiate scholarships. Gymnastics East currently has competitive teams at the Compulsory, Optional and Xcel levels.

Virtual Classes

Gym East is continuing to provide an online learning platform during our 2020-2021 School Year Session.  Virtual Gym East Gymnastics is a great way for your child to stay connected to their learning at Gym East with some of our most popular instructors.

Virtual classes provide key portions of our lesson plans that will keep your child exercising and entertained. We will be doing cardio, flexibility, and conditioning in each class, along with skills that can be modified if needed and practiced in whatever home space you have–whether it be a living room, playroom, or backyard. As long you have an area clear of obstructions, you should be good to go! Some things to expect would be drills for handstands and cartwheels, forward roll variations, leaps and turns, balance beam practice, and some bar shaping. We think there is incredible value in what we are offering via Gym East Virtual Learning.

You can register for these classes using your tokens or register and pay for the classes.

Virtual Classes are $79 for 4 classes.  There are no Credits or Refunds for Virtual Classes.  You must notify us 1 week prior to the beginning of each month is you wish to drop.

IMPORTANT: COVID-19 (Novel Corona-virus) 2020-2021 School Year Procedures

Entrance into the gym procedure:

  • Arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to the start of your class.
  • If an adult must observe class, only one parent/guardian is allowed in the facility at a time. No siblings will be permitted in the facility unless registered for a class at that same time.
  • Have athletes leave all clothes and unnecessary items in your car.
  • Send your athlete to the waiting marks near the entrance door {Bellevue will be the main front door, Issaquah will be the side front door) wearing shoes, leotard, AND MASK, with their “gym bag”—something easy for them to carry that can hold everything they need.
    • Gym Bag should include extra practice attire (leotard, shirt, and shorts), water bottle for drinking that will last them the length of their class (water fountains are closed), extra hair ties, personal hand sanitizer, and if your child uses chalk; check out getting some liquid chalk offline or in a sporting goods store. We are no longer keeping chalk out as it is a communal area.
  • Bellevue – Classes will use the main front door.
  • Issaquah Rec Gym – Classes will use the west side door on the front of the building.
  • Issaquah Team Gym (Some Rec Classes & Flying Ninja Classes)
Classes and camps will use the main front entrance
  • The athlete will enter into the building, wash hands, or use hand sanitizer and wait on a spaced spot until directed by the coach to go into their warm-up area.  They can remove their shoes and put them in their bags.  Due to the upcoming flu season, we are encouraging all kids to wear masks throughout the duration of their class.   Your athlete’s coach will direct them to place their backpack on a backpack spot and return to sit on their warm-up spot and begin class.

Exiting the gym procedure

  • The athlete will again wash their hands or sanitize prior to exiting the building
    • Bellevue will exit through the front door. Athletes will be brought into the front hall to meet parents at the door. Parents can wait on the spaced-out spots outside for athletes to be released.
    • Issaquah Rec Gym will exit out the main (east) front door. Athletes will be brought to the spots just inside the main door to meet their parents. Parents can wait on the spaced-out spots outside for athletes to be released.
    • Issaquah Team Gym (Some Rec Classes & Flying Ninja Classes) will exit out the side (North) door. Gymnasts will sit on their spot until a parent comes to this door and a coach will direct them to exit.
